ENGINEERING HONORS SOCIETY
Tau Beta Pi is an honors society for engineers founded at Lehigh University in 1885. Today there are chapters at 257 colleges and universities with over 644,699 members nationwide. The top 1/8 of juniors and 1/5 of seniors in accredited engineering programs are eligible to initiate.
Here AT MSU
Chapter MS Alpha at Mississippi State University was first established in 1928. Our chapter is one of the few chapters in Tau Beta Pi that is represented by a concrete bent on campus. Our membership includes students from every department in the Bagley College of Engineering. Every semester, we host events for initiating members and current members that provide professional and social opportunities. We encourage members to stay involved as alumni and keep updated on current events of the chapter.
HOW TO JOIN
Tau Beta Pi initiates are invited each semester based on GPA and major requirements. A few weeks into the semester, eligible students will receive an email invitation from the MS Alpha officer team with instructions on joining. The initiation process includes, but is not limited to, eligible initiates collecting signatures from current Tau Beta Pi members and faculty, polishing their own personal Tau Beta Pi bent, and attending events as part of the initiation process.
